BUILDING FOUNDATIONS: CREATIVE BLOCK PLAY FOR INFANTS

By Press

Unpacking creative play blocks for infants

4. Der Blockrollen-Test (räumliche Wahrnehmung)

Creative block play for infants in playground

5. Bilderbuch & Blockbildmaterial (Sprache und Alphabetisierung)

Creative block play for infants scenery

6. Spiegelspiel (Selbstbewusstsein)

Mirror creative block play for infants

CELEBRATING WORLD CHILDREN’S DAY, WITH GLOBAL SCREENING OF DOCUMENTARY FILM – GROWING UP SLOWLY, PLAY IS THE WAY!

By Press

TEACHERS LOVE BUILDERS SPACE AND NOW THERE’S MORE TO LOVE

By Press

BRIGHT DAY BIG BLOCKS ADDS NEW GEARS AND CHUTES TO POPULAR BUILDERS SPACE KIT

Bright Day Big Blocks majors in big blocks, big kid-size soft foam building blocks for children that inspire them to create, to express themselves in building anything they can imagine. Youngsters usually build the things they love to think about the most – be it dinosaurs or robots, cityscapes or space stations or medieval castles, vehicles like trains and planes, insects or monsters – anything. The early childhood education community, specifically teachers, have applauded Bright Day over the years for helping them build cognitive skills such as creativity, collaboration, critical thinking, and confidence in their children – as well as physical traits such as strength and stamina, coordination and dexterity, and more.

Who knew when Bright Day invented their product called Builders Space ® it would also be so loved, and enthusiastically supported by the education community. Builders Space was inspired by what’s come to be known as the Maker Movement in schools and play centers. The Maker Movement was invented in the early 2000’s and really began gaining traction by 2013. The Maker Movement encourages hands-on learning, and creative problem solving through tinkering.

Builders Space by Bright Day is a simple idea. The kit contains 21 flat panels that adhere to a wall, and sometimes the floor, each panel has holes, like a peg board. Made to be used with the panels are 300 smaller, hand size building blocks that enable children to build off of the wall, and up from the floor. Builders Space comes as a kit, the panels and blocks can create a builder or maker space about 5 feet tall and over 10 feet long.

South Korea, long known for their progressive approach to educating their young children, has used the Builders Space extensively. Changsook Kim, head of the Greem School in Seoul has installed the biggest Builders Space wall and floor in the world. She says, “why wouldn’t we give the children a place, their space, where anything is creatively possible?” She continues, “Builders Space is more than a place to play, it is a place to learn – where children can learn math, science, and through dreaming and storytelling build their vocabulary – it’s a special, magical place”.

Due to its success, new to Builders Space this coming school year are two add-ons kits, one called Gears and the other Chutes. The Chutes can be explained as blocks with channels that enable balls to run through them – the channel blocks hang on the building wall and children find a dozen ways to have fun, rolling the balls through the channels blocks – and maybe in the process learn about gravity and science. The Gear blocks employ a ratchet system and when installed on the wall by children they create a fun and fantastic configuration full of circular motion – and learn about energy and physics.

David Krishock, a co-founder at Bright Day Big Blocks comments – “we would love to claim genius on Builders Space, but the fact is that our teacher community always provides us with the best and brightest ideas”. He continues, “children playing with gear and chute type products have been available and in use for decades – we just updated the idea a bit, married the idea up with our Builders Space – and voila! – more fun, more ways for young children to play and learn”.

Builders Space is available at Bright Day Big Blocks now. And beginning July 1, 2025 new Gears and Chutes will be available and added to the USA and International product catalogs. Contact Bright Day Big Blocks and nonprofit Bright Day Foundation at contact@brightdaybigblocks.com

RENOWNED ARTIST EXHIBITS HER WORK TO BENEFIT CHILDREN IN NEED

DONATIONS TO BRIGHT DAY FOUNDATION SUPPORT TITLE 1 SCHOOLS IN AMERICA

LOS ANGELES, CA, UNITED STATES, June 23, 2025 /EINPresswire.com/ — Laurel Tucker wears two hats every day – she is a classically trained, celebrated fine artist, as well as
a founder of nonprofit organization Bright Day Foundation and for-profit company Bright Day Big Blocks.

Decades ago Laurel Tucker attended Peck School of the Arts, in Milwaukee, which is part of the University of Wisconsin system. There she studied illustration, print making, painting and pottery. Today she is a recognized fine artist with her work on display in galleries and museums nationwide – most recently her botanical illustrations were featured at The Huntington Library, Art Museum, and Botanical Gardens in San Marino, California.

Although a fine artist by nature, in the 1980’s she transitioned into the fast-paced world of commercial art, spending the next decade at top ten global advertising agencies contributing creatively to clients such as Kellogg’s cereals, Skittles candies, Hyatt Hotels & Resorts, Oscar Myer Lunchables, Gerber baby products, among others. She won national and international recognition for her advertising creative work.

But by nature Laurel Tucker is, and always will be a fine artist – majoring in botanical illustration, and abstract water color painting. As well as a lover of all children, always supporting their happy, healthy development through the power of play and play-based learning.

Since May of this year Laurel Tucker’s work has been on display, and featured in a gallery exhibit titled
“In + Out of the Frame”, in San Antonio, Texas – where 100% of the proceeds from the sale of her art will benefit the Bright Day Foundation, and specifically its child development program called Title One Derful.

Title One Derful benefits Title 1 schools, which are those most financially in need. Title One Derful donations are translated into classroom learning tool Bright Day Big Blocks, where the children are given an opportunity to play, and by engaging in creative, child directed play, they learn so much. Laurel Tucker says, “I love sharing my artistic expressions, my illustrations and paintings, and if donations through the sale of my art helps children creatively express themselves through play with Bright Day Big Blocks, well then that’s just fantastic, isn’t it!”

To learn more about Laurel Tucker’s art, her charitable work at Bright Day Foundation, and the Title One Derful program, you can reach the organization at contact@brightdayfoundation.org or by calling 01-818-914-6541.

WEST COAST PRESCREENING A BIG SUCCESS!

NEXT STEPS IN LAUNCH OF OUR PLAY BASED FILM DOCUMENTARY

Last month, January in the warm, sunny mountains of northern Los Angeles an eager group of educators and parents gathered at Westland School to pre-screen a rough edit of documentary film, PLAY IS THE WAY.

David Krishock and Laurel Tucker, Founders of the Bright Day Play and Bright Day Foundation, who funded production of this film, sum up this initiative by saying, “Our project began as a book but quickly evolved to a film to more easily reach the billions of educators and parents worldwide. Everyone knows that play is important for children, but few know just how important play is to the cognitive and emotional, the physical and social development of children. Our children, the ones we love the most!

By working with medical doctors and education experts we learned that there are smarter countries in the world, and many of them use play to better develop their children. With our film production crew we traveled the world, 8 smarter countries, and 20 locations, speaking with dozens of experts, and playing with hundreds of children. This film will take our audience to places they have never seen before – to best-practice schools and play centers that demonstrate in tangible ways how play is the best way for children to learn, to learn everything, and enabling them to build a lifelong love of learning. Today, globally, children are suffering from play depravation, what doctors refer to as a medical emergency, a global crisis – but through our films message there is a solution – and play is the way.
Our film calls for a modern revolution – for parents and educators to advocate for more play and play-based learning in schools – to demand much better for our children, and to do so now.”

The film screening at Westland School was introduced by Head of School, Melinda Tsapatsaris. And her message to her guests that evening underscored “the importance of the message related to play and play-based learning” – as well as her and her staffs pride in “being included and involved in the film project”.

David Krishock thanks Westland School. Westland School was one of 20 film participants, but the one that helped anchor the film project. David Krishock further states – “we could not have successfully completed this film project without Melinda, and the help, support, and guidance of the entire Westland School community. In total we worked at Westland for approximately a months’ time – so in addition to Melinda and her top team we salute the parents that allowed their children to participate, those parents we filmed explaining the school’s academic approach, the teachers that provided classroom access so we could capture the students magical learning moments on film, and the school support staff that made our film crew always feel comfortable.”

The pre-screening brought waves of emotion, roarous laughter and tears of joy, educators and parents witnessing a film expression of their academic philosophy as well as their amazing children engaged in incredible moments of dreaming, doing, and learning.

Stay tuned for more updates as the film is completed, continues global pre-screening, and ultimately finds a home on streaming platforms and in theaters. To find out more about the film, and local viewing opportunities reach out to us at contact@brightdayfoundation.org – or call us at +1 818 914 6541.

BRIGHT DAY LAUNCHES BIG LINK BIG BLOCKS!

MORE FUN, MORE WAYS THROUGH NEW PRODUCT INNOVATION

New product development companies often use claims like – decades in the making! …. or …. created by astronauts in outer space! – and when we all hear claims like that we know, well, those claims are a bit overstated.

Our newest Big Block innovation was created over the last few months, and right here in California, with a group of children and their teachers. And actually, it’s not rocket-science, but it does underscore how when children connect simple shapes, into whatever they can imagine, how that very simple act can enable such wonderful creative expression.

“The idea came one day from watching a group of pre-school children playing with our Big Blocks”, says Laurel Tucker, Co-Founder at Bright Day. “Everyone knows the magic of the Big Blocks is how children stack the blocks, and roll balls through channel blocks, and fasten together the different blocks with our different size connectors. Well, on this particular day the children were connecting, and connecting, and connecting – making expansive structures all joined together, it was marvelous”, she says. Continuing, “that is where the idea for BIG LINK BIG BLOCKS began”.

BIG LINK is all about 14 unique connecting shapes, and about attaching, or joining, and fastening, or coupling, and hitching or bolting, and all that – linking the block pieces into as many creative possibilities as a young mind can imagine. The children made vehicles like airplanes, helicopters, and autos – they made animals like elephants, and tigers – they made creatures like robots and monsters – they made boys and girls – they made city buildings and country ranches – the children made furniture that could be used in their bedrooms and classrooms – they spent hours and some spent days building and creating.

We have attached some photos, inspired by the builds we have seen made thus far – and when you see these you will know – pretty darn amazing – and there is so much more – more imagination, more creativity, more building.

It’s well known by educators that our Big Blocks offer so much in the way of cognitive, social, emotional, and physical development – all the creativity and imagination – all the collaboration and communication – all the critical thinking and problem solving – all the self-esteem and confidence building. The strength and stamina, coordination and dexterity – and so much more.

We are gearing up now to make BIG LINK BIG BLOCKS immediately available and part of our 2025 ongoing inventory – so we are taking customer orders right now.

Please reach out to us with thoughts and questions at contact@brightdaybigblocks.com or at +1 818 914 6541 to discuss this new, innovative Big Block kit. And as always – thank you for loving Bright Day Big Blocks!

BUILDING BIG BLOCK RELATIONSHIPS ALL OVER THE GLOBE

ANNOUNCING A NEW BRIGHT DAY PARTNERSHIP IN LONDON ENGLAND

We love bringing creative play to youngsters – it’s our mission, our job.  We know that the more that children play the more they have fun, and develop their cognitive, physical, emotional and social abilities.

Earlier this year we crossed the globe to England to partner with two great play initiatives.

You all are familiar with our collaboration with the renowned Victoria & Albert Museum – the Young V&A. They feature our Bright Day Big Blocks, and are participating with us on our Play Is The Way! documentary film premiering later in 2024 and in 2025.

We are extremely happy to announce a new Big Block Play collaboration with Fantastic Play, in London, England.

Some years back we met Ella McCartney, an artist and educator who has researched the availability of free (no charge), creative, play opportunities for urban children and families. She found local children to have extremely limited avenues of creative expression and it is her mission to help change that dynamic.

Ella’s desire is to help children develop their imaginations by creating pop-up environments for children to practice open-play, the type of free-spirited play without any predetermined outcome.

Ella created what she calls the Fantastic Play Kit, which includes a myriad of loose parts – fabrics, balls, and of course our Bright Day 120 piece set of Big Green Blocks – enough blocks to deeply engage 20 curious children – enabling and developing cognitive functions such as creativity and self-expression – collaboration and communication – critical thinking and problem solving – confidence and self-esteem. Also, physical functions such as strength and stamina – coordination and dexterity – and much more.
We also provided Ella our Big Zoo Animals – elephant, giraffe, the cutest camel and more – what Fun!

Ella loves Bright Day Big Blocks not only because of the creative play they provide – but their large size and scale helps to garner attention, attracting more families and children to her open play spaces when active.

Ella, right now, late summer, is demonstrating the power of her Fantastic Play Kit
in different outdoor public play spaces in and around London.  And, as the weather turn chillier she plans to even include the season’s offerings in the play sessions – such as fallen leaves, acorns, and rain – what Fun!

Ella deeply believes in the power of play – she knows plays availability is shrinking for children – she believes creating open, easy access play spaces will help. And we at Bright Day Big Blocks support Ella McCartney 100%.

Congratulations Ella on your Fantastic Play Kit!  And Hooray for Play!

BRIGHT DAY BIG BLOCKS MAKES ITS WAY TO TELEVISION

Education Company Preparing For Filming TV Pilot

This coming fall Bright Day Big Blocks plans to film a pilot episode of a newly created television series titled Block Party!  In preparation for that endeavor, this past week Bright Day was trial filming at a kindergarten, testing out its unique reality series format.

David Krishock, Bright Day Co-Founder says, “filming a education-based reality television program is exciting – but with so many variables, especially when the series features young children, we need all the practice we can get”.
He continues by saying, “people always say practice makes it perfect, around here we’ve begun saying, practice makes a pilot”.

Last week David Krishock, Bright Day Co-Founder Laurel Tucker – and a camera crew representing film production company Partners In Cinema from Austin, Texas, USA visited a local kindergarten to proof out their television concept meant to attract a family viewing audience.

Block Party! features 3 teams of 3 children each, 4-6 years olds.
The children create a common play theme – the chosen theme for this test episode was wild animals.
The children then design or draw what they are dreaming about building.
This is followed by building their design with loose parts, much of which are Bright Day Big Blocks.
Once finished building their idea or design the children story-tell about what they built and why they love it.  And finally the children are recognized for their creativity, their collaboration, or their critical thinking skills.

“Our session with the kindergarteners was just amazing, says David Krishock.  Not only did the television program elements work extremely well, but myself and the other adults witnessing and participating in the play sessions have seldom laughed so hard and for so long – children at play are so creative, delightful and amazing in so many ways.

Bright Day is an education-based company that believes play is quite possibly the best way for children to learn.
“We believe play develops the cognitive, physical, emotional, and social aspects as children grow. Play unlocks curiosity and builds creativity and use of imagination, communication and collaboration, critical thinking and problem solving, self-assurance and confidence.  Play develops strength and stamina, coordination and balance, fine and gross motor skills, strong bones and organs, helps control weight.
It’s been said that play is as vital to a child’s development as air, water and food, and we at Bright Day believe and endorse that 100%”.

Next step in filming the television show is to take the learning from this trial episode to the site the pilot will be filmed at – kidSTREAM Children’s Museum in Los Angeles, California.  David Krishock concludes, “everyone involved looks forward to bringing Bright Day Block Party to a broad national television audience.  Our purpose, our work is to promote the power of play and play-based learning – and we do this by providing educators and engaged parents tools like our curriculum, and our big blocks.
Working with kidSTREAM in providing educational content is yet another key step in helping parents and teachers better build children’s brains and bodies”.

In addition to Bright Days venture into television content, its non profit foundation is in the final stages of launching a global film documentary titled – Play Is The Way!  For more information on this project visit www.playistheway.film
